Prince Harry receives ‘inappropriate gift’ with amused Meghan Markle

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share a laugh with Team Australia at the 2025 Invictus Games

Prince Harry just got a gift that raised some eyebrows — and plenty of laughs.

While attending the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver, the Duke of Sussex was handed a pair of Speedos — known in Australia as “budgie smugglers” — from Team Australia.

“So inappropriate! I love it. Thank you so much,” Harry, 40, said, laughing as he held up the tiny swimsuit.

Meghan Markle, clearly amused, shared the moment on her Instagram Stories, adding, “And Team Australia, you’ve done it again!”

The interaction was a full circle moment from the 2018 Sydney Invictus Games, where an Australian athlete jokingly asked Harry to autograph a pair of Speedos. The prince quipped he’d only sign them if the athlete wore them on his head. Royal protocol, however, meant no autographs at the time.

Now, years later, Team Australia made sure Harry got a pair of his own.

The Vancouver-Whistler Games are making history this year, introducing winter sports like alpine skiing, snowboarding, and skeleton. At the opening ceremony, Harry gave a powerful speech, reminding competitors, “Invictus didn’t save you. You saved yourself.”
