UPI Outage Hits Hundreds Of Users, Financial Transactions Disrupted Across Multiple Platforms

Hundreds of users were unable to do financial transactions through several mobile applications after Unified Payment Interface (UPI) services took a hit on Wednesday evening.

As per Downdetector, there were over 3,000 complaints from users with respect to UPI outage.

Several users took to X to share that they were unable to do transactions via mobile applications. 

A X user Anas Khan wrote, “For the first time in my life I’ve experienced UPI downtime. Not Banks, or gateways, but @UPI_NPCI itself btw, uptime was 100% in feb 🫡

A user, Cheese Maggie, wrote, “UPI hi down ho gaya, 2 dost pani puri kha ke dukan pr khade hai 30 min se🤣”

A user, Rohit Gupta, wrote on X, “None of the UPI apps are working. UPI system is down i think.”

Responding to the user, UPI reacted from its official X handle, “Hi, thank you for reaching out to us. We humbly request you to get in touch with your respective bank for better assistance in this regard.”

What Is UPI?

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a platform that integrates multiple bank accounts into a single mobile app, regardless of the bank involved. It combines various banking services, enables smooth fund transfers, and facilitates merchant payments within one unified system.
