Shares of Bajaj Finance Ltd., one of India’s largest non-banking financial companies, will be closely watched on Monday; Key details

Bajaj Finance Bonus And Split Record Date

Bajaj Finance Share Price: Shares of Bajaj Finance Ltd., one of India’s largest non-banking financial companies, will be closely watched on Monday, June 16, as the stock begins trading adjusted for the recently announced bonus issue and stock split. These corporate actions were unveiled alongside the company’s March quarter (Q4FY25) earnings.

As part of these actions, Bajaj Finance had declared:

  • A 4:1 bonus issue — issuing four bonus shares for every one share held, and
  • A stock split — subdividing one equity share of Rs 2 face value into two equity shares of Rs 1 each.

Record Date and Eligibility

June 13, 2025, was the record date, which means shareholders who held Bajaj Finance shares at the close of trading on that day are eligible for both the bonus issue and the stock split. It was also the last day to purchase the stock to qualify for these corporate benefits. Investors purchasing the shares after this date will not be entitled to the revised allotment.

The record date acts as a cut-off to determine eligible shareholders. The adjustments will reflect in their demat accounts in the days following the corporate action.

Breakdown of Corporate Actions

Stock Split

Each existing share of face value Rs 2 will be split into two shares of face value Rs 1 each. While this will double the number of outstanding shares, the share price is expected to adjust accordingly to maintain the same market value. The split enhances liquidity and makes the stock more accessible to retail investors.

Bonus Issue

The bonus issue will grant four additional shares for every one share held by eligible investors. This means shareholders will receive a significantly larger number of shares, although again, the share price will adjust to account for the increase in share count.

What This Means for Investors

Here’s an example to illustrate the impact:

Suppose an investor holds 50 shares of Bajaj Finance as of June 13:

  • First, they will receive 200 bonus shares (50 original × 4), resulting in a total of 250 shares.
  • These 250 shares will then be split into 500 shares (250 × 2) post the stock split.

So, while the number of shares increases tenfold, the overall value of the investor’s holdings remains the same, as the share price will adjust in proportion to the bonus and the split.

This restructuring does not affect the fundamental value of the investment but improves liquidity, reduces the stock’s trading price, and potentially broadens the investor base by making it more affordable.

Shares of Bajaj Finance ended little changed on Friday at Rs 9,340. The stock has not done much over the last one month, but has been one of the outperformers on the Nifty 50 index so far in 2025. Shares of Bajaj Finance have gained 35% so far on a year-to-date basis.
